About Biologica

Photo: A. SteenbruggenWelcome to Biologica, the Dutch umbrella organisation for organic farming and food. Founded in 1992, it brings together all players in the organic field, including farmers, manufacturers, traders, consumers and researchers. Within Biologica many parties co-operate to improve standard practice or stimulate the market for organic products.

Activities of Biologica
Biologica deals with consumer information, market development and the organisational strength of the sector. It publishes newsletters and factsheets, brings together market and research, maintains a website and is the sector’s public voice. Furthermore, we are involved in:

• the Bio-Gids and Bio-Gids online, a guide to all sales outlets of organic products; 
• the annual Bio-Monitor with figures and analyses on the latest developments in the sector; 
• the organic food consumer magazine Smaakmakend; 
• the annual congress Bio-Congres; 
• the consumer projects Adopt a Chicken and Adopt an Apple Tree; 
• the annual "Week of Taste", a big national food festival inspired by the French "Semaine de la Gout"; 
• the annual Open Days of organic farms and producers; 
• the annual "BioVak", a trade fair; 
• Bioconnect, the knowledge network of the organic branche.

Affiliations
Biologica works closely with NGO's, government and companies in promoting organic sales and developing the organic concept. Internationally, Biologica adheres to the Principles of Organic Agriculture, as defined bij IFOAM.
